«Yesterday’s Adoration» ist ein ritueller Dialog zwischen zwei künstlerischen Positionen, die den Galerieraum sowohl in einen Tempel der Freiheit als auch der Vergänglichkeit verwandeln. Martin Matoušek schichtet monumentale, materielle Welten aus rohen Farbmischungen auf, mit denen er Fundamente zu einer neuen Realität legt. Pavel Godiška fügt fragile, temporäre Strukturen hinzu – Objekte an der Grenze zwischen hohem ästhetischem Anspruch und reinem Abfall. Zusammen stellen sie unsere Sehnsucht nach Ewigkeit und künstlerischer Dringlichkeit an den Pranger.
Aber unter der Oberfläche der immersiven Installation pulsiert tiefe innere Ernsthaftigkeit und menschliche Geste. Es ist das Aufeinandertreffen zweier radikaler Ansätze im Umgang mit Materie: Pavol verwandelt Alltägliches mit kultischer Sensibilität in atemberaubende, zerbrechliche Werke, während Martin mit brutaler Kraft schwere Farbschichten aufträgt und so der rohen Existenz Gestalt verleiht. «Yesterday’s Adoration» ist nicht bloß eine Erinnerung an verblassten Ruhm, sondern der physische Beweis dafür, wie tief man in sein Innerstes vordringen muss, um eine Spur zu hinterlassen.
Pavol Godiška verwendet in seinen detailreichen Objekten, Zeichnungen und Installationen alltägliche Gegenstände. Der unverwechselbaren Ästhetik des Materials stellt er seine persönlichen, materiellen Wünsche und Vorstellungen von Status, Erfolg und dem idealen Körperbild gegenüber.
Martin Matoušek ist in der tschechischen Kunstszene seit langem im Medium der großformatigen, abstrakten Malerei etabliert. Seine oftmals monumentalen Arbeiten zeichnen sich durch eine ausgeprägte Auseinandersetzung mit Räumlichkeit, Textur und Materialität aus.

The Yesterday’s Adoration project is a ritual dialogue between two distinct artistic positions that together transform the gallery space into a temple of freedom and ephemerality. Martin Matoušek layers monumental, material worlds full of raw mixtures that act as the foundations of a new reality. Pavel Godiška inserts fragile, temporary structures into them – objects on the borderline between high aesthetics and raw trash. Together, they create an aesthetic pillory for our desire for eternity and artistic urgency.
Beneath the surface of this immersive installation, however, beats a profound inner gravity and human gesture. It is a clash of two radical approaches to matter: Pavol, with an almost ritual sensitivity, molds and transforms everyday material into breathtaking, fragile works, while Martin, with brutal force, rolls heavy layers of paint, giving shape to raw existence. Yesterday’s adoration is thus not merely a memory of faded glory, but physical proof of how deep one must reach into one’s own inner self to leave a trace.
Pavol Godiška
Graduated from the Intermedia Studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno, Czech Republic. In his work, he uses everyday objects and materials, which he juxtaposes with their distinctive
aesthetics against his personal materialistic desires and notions of status, success, and the ideal body in detailed objects, drawings, and installations. In 2025, he was awarded a one-year residency at the Open Studios Incubator for the best young graduate.
Martin Matoušek
The artist has long established himself on the Czech art scene as a prominent contemporary visual artist working in the medium of large-scale abstract painting in many cases monumental painting, characterized by a pronounced engagement with spatiality, texture, and materiality. His work has previously been shown, among others, in exhibitions such as 2026 Beton a válec, Jiří Švestka Gallery, Prague or 2025 Conditions of Art, Pragovka Gallery. Matoušek is currently represented by the König Vlk Gallery in Brno and his works are in the collections of COLLETT Prague/Munich, the collec- tion of Francesco Augusto Razetto and others.

of INDUSTRA ART Gallery @industrabrno in Brno, consultant for gallery and exhibition management, independent curator and artist. She graduated in Visual Art and Art Education at Masaryk University, Czech Republic. König Vlk led and curated dozens of exhibitions of Czech and international artists, including large-scale exhibition projects (MoFU 360/365, Kaunas 2022
– European Capital of Culture). Among the author’s recent projects we can mention 2025/ 2026 Curatorial Residency Czech Center Hanoi and Hanoi Grapevine Vietnam.
